I’ve always enjoyed Jay Northcote‘s writing, so when the opportunity arose to review Helping Hand, I jumped on it. This was my first racy listen and I have to admit it was… interesting (read: so very glad I had my headset on, because wowza. Also glad no questions were asked about my blushing).
I loved getting to know Jez and Mac and seeing how they progress from (presumably) straight to… well, definitely not. The sweet, awkward moments were delightful, and as I said before, there were a few blush-inducing scenes, too 😉 (it’s ever so strange to listen to a sex scene. It brings a whole new dimension to things. Quite different from reading them on a page or watching it on a screen).
Mark Steadman’s ability to bring life to the characters is great (I can’t help but wonder what went through the man’s mind as he recorded this one), and I’m actually really pleased that Jay was able to get someone with an English accent to read the book, since it takes place in Plymouth, if memory serves.
While I was listening to Helping Hand I did a little stitching on my card. It has more than just blue on it now! I love it. What do you think?
It seems that Wednesdays keep getting away from me (in my defense this week, I spent all day Wednesday thinking it was actually Tuesday, which wasn’t dispelled until the following day when I saw the paper. Oops?). I think that, for the time being, I’m going to scale back to just posting on Sundays for now, and continue with the guest posts on Fridays.
I like what you guys tend to be up too. This type
of clever work and coverage! Keep up the wonderful works guys I’ve added you guys to my
