And you know what that means, right? It’s Rough Trade time! Yep, I joined in again. This round is for two 20k stories, featuring Sentinels and Guides. I started off doing my NCIS fic, which wasn’t what I had initially hoped to do. Alas, my plans were foiled because when I went to rewatch Avengers: Age of Ultron I ran into a minor problem: we don’t own it yet. I thought we did, but apparently, I was wrong. So I have to get my hands on that first because I want to make sure I get a few things right.
I’m crossing my fingers for this NCIS fic, though, because of when it happens in the show. Hiatus is not an easy subject, after all (spoiler: Gibbs basically gets blown up and loses his memory), but I wanted to explore it. Hopefully, I can do it justice.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what others will come up with, too. There are tons of good premises in this round, so it’ll be exciting. Not that I’ll have a lot of time to read, between writing myself and watching my niece and nephew twice a week. Oh, and of course my birthday on the last day of Rough Trade. Can’t forget that 😉
It’s been interesting watching the kids so far. We’ve been playing board games with them. So far, Catan’s been a hit with one, but the youngest is a little too young for that yet. We’re going to see if we can get our hands on the Junior edition and see how she likes that one.
Gloom was a bust, as I figured it would be. They’re too young, I think. Ticket to Ride was lukewarm.
The game that’s been a surprising hit? Forbidden Island. Why surprising? Because we have yet to actually win a game and we’ve played about a dozen games. And yet, they keep asking to play it because we’ve come close several times. I guess it’s a good teacher for learning to lose? Maybe? Either way, everyone’s having a lot of fun with it and that’s the most important thing, right?
